While doing panoramas earlier today - at the beach - a young woman asked me:
Why do you take pictures?
Out of nowhere, I came upp with this (rather arrogant) answer: Because I'm a
photographer.
I expected her to give me problems or to follow up on the question - but she
didn't. To my big surprise,
Okay, then, so why are you a photographer?

I do not have internet at home, so I do all my trolling at work, and I
am frequently asked when looking at PESO's why I am looking at a
picture of a dead tree, or a barn or whatever.

Similar thing happened to Nate when a friend was looking at his DSLR:
"Yours can't do video? Oh. I thought yours was more advanced than
mine." *sigh* He had one of those SLR-type digicams.

stills. I consider that a good thing. But I don't want a still camera
