I actually exchanged the first one I had too (due to a more serious intermittent fault than slightly out of focus slides) but both scanners I tried scanned slides slightly soft. I don't think it is an adjustment problem but more a case of it simply being a 'cheap and cheerful' piece of equipment

Paul, I have been using the S20 for more than a year, and one of the biggest problems that I see is the unability to scan several mounted slides at the same time (like stripes of negatives). About colors, I noticed that when scanning negatives, people faces (and skin in general) came up too red.
