5300 partition problem

I have a 5300c that came with 8.6; I wanted 7.6.1 and a HD with two partitions. I used Apple's drive utility to create two partitions but accidentally made one HFS+ and didn't notice until I had 7.6.1 installed and got the Where have all my files gone deal. I installed 8.0 - same situation -

Thanks for this. Dumping the AppleShare Prep alone did not have an effect. However, I did find a couple aliases to servers in the Servers Folder. I pulled those out. I also disabled AppleTalk, and yes, it's much faster now! But this raises a new question for me: I use an ethernet cross-over

Greetings again. I just realized the slow start-up problem is indeed due to the PowerBook trying to connect to a server that it cannot access. As I mentioned, I typically establish a connection for file sharing between my eMac and PB from the PB side using Chooser AppleShare Server IP
