so it is continuing to not recognize all the ram, but only sometimes. about
half the time it boots it shows the the built in memory test has detected
an error message during boot process... I cant get it to predictably repeat

Dan,
Just to recap so's I can wrap my tiny styrofoam peanut brain around this:
You're running a PBJ 1400 w/a Sonnet 466 upgrade 2 24meg
mem.chimps...just to check that the memory works, have you tried the
memory with your other 2 processors, the orig.
And I know a guy who made a great career with a Toaster., Of course
it was a peripheral in an A2000.

Sure it wasn't the CPU in the A2000?
I can think of one more toaster success story, but it was just the
model for the screensaver graphic...!

No, it isn't running the Sonnet 466, because that card made it unusable.
It is now running a Newer 250. Otherwise you have everything else correct.
It sees it all sometimes, and sometimes it doesnt see it all. Sometimes it
sees 48, sometimes it sees 56. This is with the Newer card. I'm not

Chill Dude! Before you send the Sonnet back make sure it isn't the
memory modules or a socket pin connection.

I'm sorry I thought you meant stable ideal configuration.
The machine is only unstable when the new 24mb card is installed, and/or
when the sonnet 466 is installed

I have 80 MB RAM.
That will be good enough for OS 9.1, if you're inclined to go that route.
The only caveat is that there will be times when you'll have to rely on VM.
What would really do well for you would be to find a copy of RAM Doubler 9.
In OS 8.6, you'll have no problems whatsoever.
I really want to buy a 12x CD-ROM drive for my 1400...
even if it isn't working, i'll buy it
in fact, you can take the drive itself out if you want, all i really
need/want is the case, door, and little apple board that goes inside
