About once a week, PowerMail retrieves 500 messages that have already been read
again, marking them as unread.
What could be causing this?

to open the file; whatever application is assigned to that filename

An html mail with embedded images is a perfectly reasonable thing to
expect your browser to display properly.
I used Apple Mail as a comparison, since it's reasonable to expect
PowerMail to work at least as well. I could have used almost any other
modern mail
I've been a Powermail fan for years, but I'm getting impatient for some
improvements. These are basic things that other mail clients (like
Apple's Mail) do just fine.
1. .ics files can't update Calendar.
2. Links inside html emails do not open in many cases.
3. Emails with inline pictures do

to add it to some calendar.

When I set a Mail Filter to do an Auto-Reply, it simply sends the
orignal message as a reply, ignoring the text in Set Reply...

While it's great there is new update (finally!), it really should be a
point release.
I'd love to give PowerMail money for an upgrade. I think it should have

Filter by Type and throw away all the .gif's will probably clean up half
of it.
Many of those gifs are still connected to emails that I need.
I just got two more. I clear them out by firing up Mail and getting rid
of them.

I don't have any problem by keeping html turned off and not downloading
large files until I see who they are from. My limit is 1000 kb set in
mail

I agree. I've been using SpamSieve for months, and my accuracy rate is
96.7%. It's pretty easy to set up and manage, and it's fast.

The AppleScript is indeed slow - I gave up on it.
Moving the messages around seems a bit of a kludge, and also pretty slow.
What do the PM folks have to say? They could certainly write something
that work much more quickly!
