That is true for non-USB devices and also where you have USB devices that
you let the host OS take control of rather than the VMWare guest OS.
The VMWare USB support allows for a transparent "pass-through" mode and in
that mode you can normally use

There is no such option (although it might be easy to add one).

Has anyone managed to get the latest QPC2 to run under Vista? With it going
general release at the end of the month it would be nice to know what is the
problem, and if a fix is required I guess Marcel needs to know there is a
problem.

I have always had trouble with formatting under SMSQ/E.
The work-around I use is to format the disk under DOS, and then use a
program (such as my QXLFormat) that can rewrite the directory on the disk to
be a QL format one. Also useful for setting previously formatted QDOS

Neil,
If you have SMSQ/E then it can read DOS format floppy disks without
problems. If you have any problems with that you can get a copy of
DiscOVER from my web page that can read these floppies under any QL variant
operating system. There is also a utility (cannot remember the name
off-hand)

James,
The header is correct - it defines a memory structure in QDOS, not a
structure designed for use with C. As such the definition is fixed and
cannot be changed. You will find that under QDOS all strings are preceded
by a 2-byte field that defines the length of the following string, and

One thought that occurs to me is to create a QL floppy disk with the key
tools on it, and then make an image of it using the RAWREAD program on DOS.
If you then add the RAWRITE program plus a batch file already set up to use
it to write the floppy image to A:, this would allow a user to create the
My TexTIDy program should be able to convert between the QL and PC versions
formats of these files. You run this conversion on the QL side before
transferring them to PC disks (possibly using DiscOVER) for use on the PC.
Also provided with TexTIDY is some documentation on the file formats

Not quite sure what you are saying here? If you are talking about
assigning values as part of an initialiser, then you are correct in that
only the first member in the union is recognised (the members of 'c' in your
example rather than 'xs') for assignment values. This is actually according
