It depends on which version of Exchange you are talking about I run
this exact same setup with Exchange 4.0 and qmail running outside the
firewall. Exchange 4.0 does not support pop3, so there is a program
freely available called pullmail that can be run on the NT Exchange
server to pop email

Your best bet is to take a look in freshmeat and see what's there. Perl
isn't for everyone, so don't be so hard on yourself! As for your last
question, search the archives - I'm sure someone has already solved that
problem.

IIRC, HP OpenMail on Linux has been discontinued. Another option is to

Roger,
Do a quick search in the qmail archives - your answer awaits!! I have
nearly the same setup - qmail server outside and Exchange 4.0 inside
I use pullmail to poll the qmail server via pop3 and it get sent to the
Exchange server via smtp. Works pretty well.

This still depends on how the @scanner_array is used to determine the
name of the scanner. If all it is looking for is a list of names of
scanners, then you are correct Charles. The single & is used as a
bitwise operator - probably not what Ross wants!

Use tcpserver just like LWQ suggests.

What's the rights on the pop3d run file?? The qmail-pop3d directory

What happens when you try running the run file from the command line??

I haven't played with this a great deal, so you're going to have to bite
the bullet and give it a test yourself. From what I've seen there is a
way to export messages out of a MAPI based system and put them into an
LDAP/IMAP system. In other words you'll probably end up with two email
systems - on
Well, I'm in the process of going the same route. So far, Outlook can
support importing information out of MAPI based systems into IMAP/LDAP
systems. I am planning on replacing Exchange 4.0 with TradeServer from
bynari. So far it looks to be a good fit!

Ok I think I got it!! The sticky point was realizing that when messages

What I want to do is add the X-Envelope-To: to every email sent to my

This is what I've done to my .qmail files:

Off the top of my head I think you have a rights problem. You should

Jeremy,
I tried installing qmai-scanner and had some difficulty with the setuid
root issues. qmail-scanner was wanting a new kernel built, which I can't
easily do as it's a remote server. I switched to amavis and think that's
a better solution. It's easy to install and essentially works b
Ah, isn't the username simply just that, without any hostname appended??
Just a thought I use pullmail to pop stuff from a qmail server and
shove it into an aging Exchange system, and the username I supply
doesn't include the @HOSTNAME .

I've also received this message as well - normally after an svscan

clear this problem.
