I think the vanilla qmail default is 1200. Don't know about QMT.
You can define a timeout (in seconds) in this file to what ever you want.

Allways keep a backup mbr ;)
But you should also setup ALL the MBR in every hdd you have in the boot raid
to be bootable.
This option is available in GRUB configuration.
This way if one goes down any of the mirror drives will boot the system.

Personaly I use DK for signing and then Spamassassin for checking.
