Rare is it that Medical Doctors touch or maintain Wound Vacs. Doctors

I had only good experiences, but only from nurses in the hospital. Only one Dr.
was a total nightmare. The nurses always ask me "you know your body better than
us so you tell us what we need to do."

Jim,
you should be able to go out patient and get the wound vacuum and have a
visiting nurse take care of it. I got mine while hospitalized because of my
foot surgery that went wrong. I think they would do them outpatient. I would
ask my doctor and maybe search for a Dr. that would do outpat
I didn't get why I couldn't get a wound vac at home without going to the
hospital first. Oh well, I have night nurses (due to being on the vent) and
they clean and change the packing every morning.

Jim, your situation must be most unique. I know of dozens of Quads, using
wound vacs at home. Some are changed twice a day, once a day and
sometimes, once every 3 days, by a nurse. Wound cleaning is usually done at a
hospital or clinic so the medical doctor/wound specialist can observe

Sorry to hear that Jim. Are you also using a wound vac?

So sorry to hear that. I hope this year goes a lot smoother for you. I have a
friend, a low-level para actually, who just spent 54 months in bed. Three of
those years he was not even at home… A nursing home. He is only in his 40s. He
finally got to go home last week.
