week and has 57 members. Once the MacBook Pro ships, we're ready to
launch the MacBook List. I've also set up a Mac mini List.

Data is easy enough to understand, its the data. ;)
The Resource part or fork is the bit that tells the mac what to do with
the data, wonderful idea in the 80's but a load of crap now.
So transfering the file straight to a pc means you loose the resource
fork

okay, to clarify, i have the system disks on the
emulator, but they wont read... i click them and they
say cant read document to paraphrase... so i am
guessing that they arent readable or they are corrupt,
since i expanded them both on pc and mac... but maybe

Hi, I have a (I think) problem: when I click on 'about this mac' on finder
the windows display a generic macintosh type, not the specific model that I
own, quadra 700. The system version is 7.5.

I seem to recall that around that time, they stopped identifying the
model by name. It was around the time that the clones came out - so
perhaps that was part of the reason why they changed it.

I used to own a Mac Plus *long* ago (sadly, it was
stolen), and have been a Windoze user for several
years. Not by choice, mind you, just easy availability
of hardware on a shoestring budget.
Recently I downloaded a Mac emulator, Basilsk II, and
was sent the ROM files neccessary to run
to help you decode
bin, sit, hqx ect files onto a new larger hardfile.
The second link is the Basilisk manual, it might be handy but at 11mb
its up to you.
When the emulator is running you can mount the pc drive and copy mac
files from your win32 partition. This is the easist way but some

8.6 is solid but requires about twice the memory
Mac OS 8.1 on an 8200 is probably the highest you should consider
going, unless you upgrade the RAM and/or hard drive, like someone
else said, too. Unless you need to run classic apps that require the
newer version of CarbonLib, 8.1 should be fine.

require 70ns. The Q800 supposedly requires 60ns, but mine ran fine
with a mix of 70 and 60 sticks.

Depends a lot on the machine, and memory specs for each Mac are probably best
obtained via GURU.
