+ 1 for the comments about rear brake shoes and chain length. Rear brake shoes: sloping dropouts work fine if the teeth difference isn't much more than 2 or 3 teeth; with an ENO hub, even 2 teeth is problematical. I solved the problem with the rim and pads not meeting by using only a front brake;

I don’t want to throw cold water on this, but in my experience (QB owner since 2005) the sloped dropouts only work with very short brake shoes—think road bike caliper-type shoes. Longer brake pads create a problem when you start moving the wheel backward and forward by rubbing on the tire.
