I usually put no more than 5kg of load in my saddlebag.
With my 54cm Hunq, the saddlebag would rub the tire if used without a rack,
so probably 90% of the weight is supported by the rack.
No problems so far.

Several years ago I saw a photo in a bike magazine which showed a
quick-release rear fender.
I think I threw the magazine away, but I remember that it had a latch catch
clip where it attaches to chainstay bridge.
When you create your quick release fenders, please post pictures!
