Thanks for that bit of information. I have a customer with a SB5000 and recently added a Sunny Island with 8 L16 batteries. This answers their question as to what they will do in an extended outage with no sun. I wanted to suggest a small backup generator but wasn't sure h

Ray,
We were already doomed when the Tesla generator came out... The plans to
build are now down to $39 with all parts costing under $100 to "run your whole
house"

stopped liking the looks of the Solarex
MSX series. I still look out my kitchen window at the 10 MSX 60's (1996) on one
of my racks.

We have been using a digital unit for a few years - Sper Scientific 300055
Pocket Digital Refractometer - expensive ($300+), but it appears to be very
accurate. has built-in temperature compensation.

Ray,
I solved the problem of the small inverter/generators kicking out by just
making the generator and an IOTA charger as a subsystem.. I find the best
charger match for the small generator and hook up to the batteries. I started
doing this with grid tie with backup systems as the GVFX i
pon delivery.

do is utilize the existing float switch for both pumps
rather than them adding another float switch and 80M of extra cable just for
the dc pump.
Can anyone see an easy way to achieve this without adding too much extra
expense?
thanks for any collective wisdom - John
