I have manage to install RH 5.0 out of the box. One thing that got me
stumped was the fact that when I do a Telnet or FTP to it, it takes
about a minute before I get to the Login: prompt.
I have tried Turbo Linux and I did not get any problems. What could be

Well, somebody should tell my Motorola ModemSURFR internal 56K modem that
it is not compatible with Linux because it thinks that it is! I have had no

boot the floppies, but have a problem mounting the root filesystem.

You can run a stripped down version of partition magic on diskette. It
is too big to fit w/ the DOS system files however so make your boot
diskette, then make another diskette w/ the pm stuff...works great.

partition that is 1024MB large and create mult

I'm not sure when it broke, but all of a sudden the who command dumps core
every time I try to run it. I thought maybe it became corrupted somehow, so
I took the who command off of another RH5 machine that runs it fine, and it
still dumps core with the new one.
Any ideas?

This is a great modem, I have been using one for the last 1 1/2 years
with out a hitch. I can't testify for its Linux usage as mine has been used

search the mailing list archives in order not to disturb all of you. However, the
list is too large for me. I wonder if there is any method to search a particular
topic like the "/" and "//" searching comma
I'd guess that the problem is either permissions -- as others have
suggested -- or possibly disk space. Are you running low on space?
