As I said before, I have a standalone machine at my home for my own personal
use. I have already evaluated my security needs. I only need to surf the
web, download files, and send/receive email. I do not need offer any
services or to be a server of any kind -- FTP, HTTP, email, or otherwise.

This is bind-8.2.2.P3-0.5.2 came from the RedHat 5.2 distro (rpm).

Well, duh! I *must* have some kind of mental block when it comes to INITRD
- I'm always forgetting about it. Maybe that's why I gave up and finally

If you're running bind 8 this is normal. Anytime you restart named after

It depends on the the card. It may claim to be an adaptec card, and
may use adaptec chips, but often times, vendors customize these cards, or
more accurately, strip them down. I've read code comments from at least

It sould be either a tarball (filename.tar.gz) or an RPM file
(filename.
I've tried it with a few different versions of the JDK, and Moneydance
loves to freeze, making me give up on it every time I give it another
chance. The OSS world still lacks a good checkbook balancer. Look for
the current options under Home/Personal - Finance at www.linuxapps.com.

Well, I'd say it depends on your usage. I'm using Qmail, and am quite happy
with it, for our corporate mail system. The advantages of security, speed
and configuration over sendmail were enough to warrant moving to qmail. At
home Qmail is kind of overkill and if I was going to setup a smaller s

Moneydance seems to do a good job, and can import Quicken files.

I have been using SCSI with Linux for many years now. I have gotten the
best results with Adaptec card and recently with the Mylex RAID cards.
If you want an inexpensive SCSI card find an old AHA-154x card. They have
been stable with Linux for hundreds of kernel revisions. I also have have

It did and it DID? What a surprise that a generic SCSI card was actually
