Thanks to everyone for the help. Everything is working although I am not
sure what caused my original problem. I removed the /var/lib/pgsql/data
dir, erased the postgresql RPMs, installed them again, ran an initdb and
things are working fine now.
The RH8 lpd system seems to work pretty good. I set up two smb printers
that are connected to a win2k pc on the network. The both print fine. One
is an HP Photosmart 1215 and the other is a PDF distiller. Using the test
mechanism it printed both just fine. Now I'm trying to print from

before (with -t vfat), but I have one here on a USB disk that is
either damaged (unlikely) or something Ive never seen before.

I have samba + windbind running on red hat linux 8.0. I can ssh to
the samba server but windows clients can't connect.
From the log it looks like windows is not reading the user as
CVRR2+soo and only using soo.

It tells you about real logins, and if they're still logged in... Searches wtmp file.
run "man last" for more info...
If you do who -utH you get more interesting info such as process ID (PID) of the
shell. "kill -KILL PID" and they're outa here...
