Vorpahl,
I don't know the answers to your questions, however, you probably don't
want RAM disks anyway.
The kernel does a _great_ job of managing what's in memory and what isn't.
In fact, I'm not sure having a RAM disk keeps it in RAM - it _may_ keep it
in swap (i.e. - on disk).
If your RAM disks are usin
We need to set up an SMTP scanning server. I've been looking at / getting
prices for Windows NT-based solutions such as McAfee's WebShield SMTP.
Does anyone know of any Linux-based (preferably Redhat) equivalents?

Hi,
I've to make a script to do the following:
Every day, at fixed time, I want to copy a directory into a cd.
There should be few data (maybe 30-40 MB per day) so, when the cd is
almost full it should eject it and when I put a new one, mount the cdrom again and
restart!
Am I dreaming or do you
Just my $0.02, but after all of the security problems that sendmail has had
of late, when I upgraded from 7.3 to 8.0, I changed over to postfix. Works
great, and I get to sleep at night. 9.0 works well with it, also.

Recently (this week) I ran into a similar issue. It appears as if the login
banner on the ftp servers was confusing our firewall into dropping ftp
connections.
Running snoop on the clients and servers didn't reveal much except that the
server saw 8 packets transmitted/received during the session
Perhaps they've (mis)configured their FTP server to not allow a connection
from your IP? I can do that with my AS/400 - an unallowed client can
connect, but when the FTP server doesn't find that IP in my table the
connection is closed.

When I try to set up my laptop to connect to a wireless network via

version the OS uses is 12. How do I either use version 12 on my card,

i'm trying to figure out what i can and can't do with
ram disks, so let me explain what i've found so far, and
perhaps someone can fill in the gaps.
by "ram disk", i don't mean the boot-time initrd image.
i mean setting aside an arbitrary amount of RAM, formatting it
as an ext2/3 filesystem

Hello, List
I'm working at a temporary location. We're set up with a T1 and a RH7.2 box
as firewall/nat (using iptables). Most client machines are RH 7.3.
We've never had any problems using ftp to hosts outside of our site. Now
however, there's one that won't connect for us:

Hi Nabin,
you need to use the KDE Control Center. Once you are in the program, go to
'Look & Feel' -> 'Colors' and select 'Pale Grey'. I believe that this color
scheme will suit best your monochrome display, however, while being there,
you may test other available combinations as well.
