Samba child process

I have around 20 users connected to my redhat 7.2 server using samba. My question is when I do a ps -uax it shows that all the samba child processes are running as root not the actual user. And top shows samba taking up over %90 of the cpu. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what is going on?

and there is no image file referenced in the new linux section (2.4.18-18.8.0). I can add the missing line to the lilo.conf file, but there is no related image file in the /boot folder. Should I re-run up2date or is there a way I can create the missing image file from a command? Thanks! Stuart
