Hello to group,
What is the advantage of an active low COR.
Most I have talked to say they have their controllers set that way, so I set
mine that way, plus the Maxtrac I am using as a receiver default is active low.
I simulated a power failure to the reciever and the line went low and the

I prefer active high for just the reason that you described. I usually
fuse my equipment individually, so a blown fuse in the receiver can
cause an active low to be sent to the controller, thereby keying the
transmitter. If I do use active low, I put a pull-up resistor in the
controller and
If it were me, I'd decline to use it. By the time you replace all the guy
wires, strip all the junk off the tower, clean off all the rust and paint
it, you've still got an old tower when you're finished. All that expense
would go a long way toward a new tower. And that's not even considering
The tower is free, to use. I want to use it for a micro wave hop, the small
open screen type dishes. The is a small bow up about 120 feet,
can't really tell if it is bent. The only way I know of to tell if the tube is
full of rust is drill a small hole in the base and see
what comes
Looking at the pictures you have shown, I would not try and reuse the
existing tower. It has rust and shows a lack of maintenance by the trees in
the guy wires as well as the vines growing up from the base. If the funds
were available to get the property and erect a new tower where you could
keep
Hi Folks,
Anybody have a Micor Low Band PA - Repeater/Base

As I said find someone who know metal
and engineer or metal worker that has a clue and have then do the testing ,
it's possible to do dye checks n stuff for the bolts and ask the metal workers
advice about rust testing , it really needs a paint job once you are sure it's
safe to climb .
Hi Scott,
Many controllers have pullup resistors on their COR inputs so that they can be
driven from open collector or relay contact COR outputs. With that arrangement,
if the controller is configured for active high and the COR line is
disconnected, the controller will think the receiver is

I understand it that modulated FM is not acceptable in the Non-voice sub-band.
And there are power limitations for beacons.

If you can use it as is, by that I mean if you are going to use the antennas
and feed line that is there then go for it. Run it till it falls down. Do
not climb it, do not add to it. Just clear the guys and base of the tower of
the over growth. Never work at this site alone. Have a safety person
I'd cut the trace from the modulator section feeding the PLL so the TX
has 0 modulation, Or you can try turning off the PL tone and grounding
the mic pin.
For keying I would jam PTT to ground, and switch the line that feeds
switched B+ to the predriver stage of the PA.
You could use just the PTT

Scott,
A while back there was a thread on this subject and one of the members posted
the reply below. It really made a lot of sense and I saved it in my archives
for future reference.

Lastly, if you can do it, run your logic level signals as
active low, for two reasons:

Not worth your time, let alone your life. Bolted on tubular bracing is a recipe
for disaster. The BW (body wall) on the legs and bracing could be paper thin
and you would find out after the damage is done.
I would not climb it if it had new guys on it.

I just noticed a RED FLAG item in one of the pictures. Whomever constructed
the tower installed the cross braces upside down - the drain holes are at
the top. 40 years of rain getting into those will not be good.

The Low Pass Filter will likely need to be re-worked or you stand a good
