Mike,
Probably. The fact that you could receive the signal suggests that the
exciter is working, but just has a very low output. Tuning should fix that.
Most commercial-band VHF exciters will tune to 2m without modification, but
that is not always the case.
73, Eric Lemmon WB6FLY
Mike,
Besides tuning the exciter, you'll also need to tune the bandpass filter
that is between the exciter and the PA. Start here:

ed, adjust R622 on
the IFAS board for best squelch operation. NOTE: Maximum squelch decreases
with increasing resistance." Revision B also changed the PC board, so it is
likely that your radio has R622 on the older board, hence the Rev A marking.

Tony,
The 19D432667G1 IFAS board is covered in LBI-4986R, here:

the TLN4928A2. The circuit boards are definitely not the same, although the
circuitry seems to be similar. Can anyone identify the manual that includes
a schematic diagram of the TLN4928A2 PL encoder? Thanks!

Joe,
I am not aware of any means to perform a realignment. The design of the
radio precludes that option.

, the cheaper the radio, the poorer the signal quality.
It's not surprising that the Puxing radio produces a raspy buzz when
transmitting through a repeater.

uld predict that a tuning fork design would produce a
pure sine wave. As Bob suggests, the distortion in the reed board may be
caused by excessive feedback, and that's a topic for further study. Any
ideas why the reed has more distortion in one orientation than in the other?

d it- I'll run
a purity test on it. Mike Morris has a very informative article about the

Because of their (RS-series) relative instability in high-RF environments, I
now install only Duracomm, Samlex, and Astron switching power supplies.
Lightweight, very efficient, and very reliable. Nuff said.

the MOV will get warm and become more likely to enter
avalanche mode on modest spikes. Utilities are supposed to maintain the
nominal utilization voltage at 120 VAC +/- 5%, so if the voltage ever
exceeds 126 VAC, or falls below 114 VAC, it's time to complain to the
electrical provider.
