matter, she retreats to Goa. She owns an old Portuguese house in
Saligao, which is her haven from her zooming life as a professional
photographer.

weeks rest even as he is recuperating after a fall in a freakish mishap
while entering the Goa Assembly.

While we are often quick to complain, I must say that the power
situation in Arrarim has improved vastly over the past 4-5 days or so.
We are having some terribly rainy weather in Goa, but now the power
hardly fails. If it fails, it tends to come back in 2-3 minutes. In the
past 4-5 days, there wa
Sunday evening (post 8 pm) saw a group of Saligao villagers trap three
vehicles from Mapusa that were dumping garbage on the Saligao-Calangute
hilltop, apparently in direct violation of court orders.
By late night, the villagers called on the police to take action. FN

Just last-night, I wound up at 4 am by writing off a note to Tony
Fernandes (Uncle Luciano's son from Donvaddo) who's in London.
This morning, one woke up late to hear the news of the blasts.

your home and we are in the midst of a heavy monsoon spell (some heavy

FRUIT-BEARING AND ORNAMENTAL PLANTS are
available at Zonal Agricultural Offices in
Goa, apart from private outlets. One option
is the Duler Farm, run by the Goa government,
where the price of plants is amazingly low,
no wonder the stock ge
urs, and the other for 24 hours! Earlier this month, half the
village had no lights for an entire night. The other half, for another
night! Apart from that, we have regular breakdowns of 3-4 hours with

Yesterday (Thursday, March 17) it was a day of the streetlights being kept
blazing inspite of the summer sun, throughout the day. Today... you
guessed it. It was a power cut/unscheduled breakdown/shutdown from morning
till now (2.20 pm) at Sonarbhat ;-) FN

My friend and classmate Tony D'Cruz (who lives opposite the Sonarbhat
chapel on the road leading to the seminary) was embarking on a new
venture, the other day when we met up. He was launching a small new
general stores just by the side of his house.
