Actually my good friend Jim Vanderzyl, NOS winner with his Challenger, flew his big Astro Jeff in RES to 6th place at this years
I don't think it is fair that the juniors flew less rounds (only half as
many in the flyoff) as the seniors, when:
1. They pay just as much entry as the seniors.
2. Their planes cost just as much.
3. They too, are competing for a shot on the US team.
4. Their travel often costs more, as many of

David,
It was very unfortunate that the weather did not cooperate at the F3J Finals. I believe that Phil Renaud and the Rocky Mountain group did a great job under the extreme pressure they were under to get this contest completed. It is natural for a competitor to want toget as many chances to
FWIW, the current record holding DS plane used Hitec wing servos in the
ailerons and elevator. It's still going strong. Addmitedly, it's a
smaller (2m) plane.

Please get your facts straight.
RMSA collected NO fees and made not one thin
dime on this event.
We do these things because we love soaring,
not for money.
If it were up to me, we'd let the juniors
fly for free.
If you have a beef about fees - you'd best
take that matter up with
1) Heat damaged area with boiling water to get it to mostly
spring back to the original shape. Let dry.
2) Apply thin resin, blot off excess, and clamp lightly
between two 1/4 balsa planks (or whatever) to force it into the
correct flat shape. Use thin polyethylene for a nonstick film.
I will have to disagree about the Juniors not flying enough.
The seniors didn't fly enough!
We had very poor weather for this contest. We know who we can blame for
that!
Phil decided at the pilots meeting that the Juniors would fly two rounds
between the Senior rounds. That's actually more than in

David - first - RMSA had no control over any of the fees charged for this
event. That is entirely AMA directed. We get NO portion of any of the entry
fees. We get only reimbursed expenses. Second - those fees do not go to
the AMA itself but go entirely to the USA Team fund. Third - all past
