[RCSE] 2 meter easy glider, 2.4 EVO, and Hi Starts...

2008-03-24 Thread aeajr
Sounds like you have too much incidence on the h-stab of the Easy Glider. This is a common issue on this plane. If you have the RR version and the tail is taped in, try lowering the back a little. The stock hook position is optimized for hand towing rather than hi-start. You may wish to move

Sorry about the mass mailing here... Todd asked about frequency restrictions at our Isle of Wight (IOW) field. We have a farmer just down the road (about 1.75 mi) who we share the spectrum with. We are planning, however, on coordinating use of the entire spectrum to support the May 17, 18

[RCSE] Flap flutter and servos for Pike Perfect Flaps

2008-03-24 Thread Knox, Allan - SAL
Hi, I have a new 80 series Carbon Perfect with socks on all control surfaces. I was planning to use JR DS368 servos on the wing including flaps. I hear that DS3402s are preferred to prevent flutter? I note that the 368 is only 10% less powerful than the 3402 but does have a smaller case so is

[RCSE] Breaking the 40 Spektrum Radio Barrier

2008-03-24 Thread aeajr
Spektrum RC splits the 2.4 GHz band into 80 slices. When you turn on a Spektrum transmitter it takes two of these slices at its channels for talking to the receiver. It has long been expected that if you tried to turn on the 41st Spektrum system, it would not be able to lock with the receiver.

Gordy, I travel with Sportubes internationally and regular locks are OK. However, you have to be prepared to unlock Sportubes for inspection as you're checking in. Also, Sportubes have gone up in price but there are a couple of people selling them on eBay for around $140 instead of the list

[RCSE] Re: 2.4 Question --- line of sight answered

2008-03-24 Thread schrederman
We use lots of 2.4 on the railroad for lots of things. It is line of sight, which is why even a carbon canopy will give you trouble, sometimes. For me, a professional in the telecommunications world, I will stick to 72 Mhz and 50 Mhz for a while. I just don't get the rush to 2.4 with all the

2008-03-24 Thread aeajr
I believe the signal pattern on a 2.4 GHz system is the same as a 72 MHz system. Max signal is from the sides of the antenna. There is much less signal coming from the tip. Pointing your antenna at the plane is not recommended. Ed Anderson Dee Smith Wrote: What kind of a pattern does the

This is the same as with PCM, all you have to do is program a failsafe function to the channel you have your plane finder plugged into to fire the response. So if you are in Aux 4 for instance, program full travel the other direction, that way when the TX is turned off simulating a lost
