dual universal Intel + Apple Silicon apps.

a media folder on the Library tab, LMS would start, and I was able to
listen to music on my SB Booms. But the Booms often had problems
connecting to the server, and then I had the issue where I was getting

The new build seems to be working, no more Preference pane errors and no
more "can't find file" errors. Playing M4A files OK.
Excellent! One more issue down...
Next up the startup scripts. That might be a bit harder to tackle.

There are new 8.1 builds out there which should automatically set the
arch when starting LMS. Please give it a try!
Please note that this currently only works for the initial start, or
using the Start/Stop button in the pref-pane. It is not expected to work
with the startup items yet.

Yes: the wrong Perl is being used. Either wrong version (not Perl 5.18),
or wrong architecture.

The solution is somewhat rude, but what you need to do is delete all
files from the LMS `lib` and `CPAN` folders for which an equally named
file exists in your system's Perl vendor path (for version 5.28 that
would typically be /usr/lib/perl/vendor_perl/5.28).

It seems like I have Perl 5.18, 5.28 and 5.30 installed on my HDD but
when typing Perl -v I get the respons 5.28. So there might be something
in it that LMS is picking the wrong version for some reason.

When trying to start LMS it stops with the following error message (a
bit longer but removed some...)
Can you tell me what exact package you installed? It looks to me as if
you didn't install a recent nightly 8.1 build.

I got it to run using Automator but got the following error message:
Syntax Error
mkdir: /Volumes/T7/Moved: Operation not permitted
mkdir: User/charlesatkinson/Library/Logs/Squeezebox: Read-only file
system
chown: /Volumes/T7/Moved: No such file or directory
chown: User/charlesatkinson
This may be caused by (on original set up) my moving my User files from
the Macintosh HD (512 GB SSD) to a permanently connected Samsung T7 (1
TB SSD) in order to keep bulky music and photo files away from the OS
and Apps. I hope that I have not gone beyond what is permissible using
LMS.

I am now up and running with LMS and would like to explain how this was
achieved given that my user files (including my main music file) for my
personal log on are on a permanently connected external 1TB T7 SSD.
I always had a spare administrator account on the internal Macintosh SSD
I am sorry that I troubled you as my difficulty was due to lack of
experience on the Mac and Big Sur. You can be assured that LMS works
well with Apple Silicon.
