optionSelect this newsgroup for offline use set ?

That is not true. I use message filters on news groups and do not
have them set for off-line use.
Unless things have improved in SM 2.0

I _think_ you can create a header filter to filter on the charset. Of
course it won't stop those from being sent to you, but if it works, you

XP Pro machine.
Each time I go to Tools Run Filters on Folder the function does not

being rebuilt. I see today, that meant... that they had been wiped out,
