Hi There
I am jst wondering how much methanol cost in the US. My local
supplier in NW Montana quoted me $196 for 55 gal. This works out to
about a $1.40 / gal of finished product not including reclaiming
methanol.
Thank you Gary

What you want is an inert gas (if tailpipe emissions were inert smog

Hmmm.
Well I need some advice. I reprocessed and got 3 layers: A dark
amber 20% layer on top, a 2% black layer, and a 78% lighter amber
layer on bottom. Finally it settled out a thin dark layer on the
bottom. I seperated out the lighter amber layer and heated it to
remove the methanol.

That is a lot cheaper than I have found in Seattle - $2.65/gallon for 55 gal
quantities and $3.65/gal for smaller quantities.

Hi Steve,
I own an Isuzu NPR diesel truck and I believe the same thing happened to me.
I would turn the key and pull the key out and the engine would run for
approx. 30 seconds until it ran out of fuel in the lines...it was real tough

Are you sure this is anhydrous/unmixed methanol? You have to specifically
request this or you may be getting alcohol mixed with oil and additives.

Josh,
You can use a layer of hardware cloth, then a layer of window screen, then a
layer of cheese cloth or an equivalent if you can't find a finer meshed
screen and finally a layer of filter paper. If you forego the finer mesh it
only means that the paper filter will plug faster and you won't
Typically methanol acquired from race tracks is unmixed as the only thing they
would want to mix it with is nitromethane which is more expensive per liter
then methanol. Also different classes of cars run with different mix ratios.
Water content may be more of a concern. You may want to mix

You've got to flammables to consider, methanol and oil. You'll probably

Do a search for MSDS (Material Safety and Data Sheet) This will list the
flash point vapor pressure, and recommended fire suppression media. In
the case of one MSDS, it was noted that foam (AFFF), dry chemical and
CO2 were recommended.
