My opinion If you are use to XP, you might want to get Windows 7 if you can find it. It is easier to navigate than Win 8.1. And it is my understanding that all Wind 7 and Win 8.1 owners will get a free upgrade to Win 10 within the first year. There will be support for Win 7 through 2020.
