Hi all,
We are getting more progress on Vancouver Island, thanks to (haitelk)
who has just added in more wooded area. And the new CVRD data is in
the planning, discussing sorting data phase. :-)
What we still need todo is make a tool that will automatically slice
the NTS tiles (canvec .osm
It is possible to use Osmosis in this way. From [1]:
osmosis --read-xml file=Canvec092C01.osm --bounding-box top=48.05
bottom=48 left=-124.1 right=-124 --write-xml file=Canvec092C01A.osm
For my own work with geobase2osm.py I wrote a small bash shell script that

Hi Sam and all
I'm wondering if the best tiling is a fixed number of tiles (5X5) or if it
should be defined as a maximum size of some type for a tile.
Using JOSM/Canvec files, I worked in high density urban areas where a 4X8
tiling was almost insufficient. For some rural areas, a 2X2 tiling

Hi,
Nice ideas :)
I wish Victoria, BC would have not dug up the old street-car line and paved
it into a road. It would be great to see a rail line that isn't just a
tourist train going 2 times a day. ... 1 time per direction.
Sorry i cant be of much help right now, directly to you, but

Cool, looking at [http://bcer.trams.bc.ca/pics/chilllq.JPG] the railyard was
converted into the library/Salish Park/Holiday Inn (now Coast Hotels). Looks
like a good use of the railway=abandoned tag? [

Ideally, I'd like to model an entire transit system.

Help, translation please ?

Also, if you are communicating to other organisations about OSM, you might
want to think about creating a local chapter. Contacting the OSMF local
chapters group you could at least ask them if you should or for other
advice.
I am using Google Translate. (it's included in Gmail) where it
automatically translates the text. It might not be a perfect translation.
However, enough to follow along :) yup, Gregory's advice was best.
(check out the page contact for details)
You got to drive the street car? Cool.
I'm living in Point Grey, Vancouver (a month until I leave Canada though)
and was planning to go on it just for a ride, and to check the route is on
OpenStreetMap(OSM). The only time I was down there I had my bike though, so
I just corrected the location of
