I just could not resist...I got me a Squeezebox controller to use as
remote to control my main Touch.
Reading the Touch's screen from a 5 meter distance just was too
uncomfortable.

I'm reading a lot of posts from this forum and I found several times
that there are people using a kind of a server called Tiny SBS and I
don't know where I could get this, I don't know whether is a plugin or
an applet?

Tiny SBS is the cut down version of Squeezebox Server that runs on the
Touch. If you have a Touch you already have TinySBS. If you are using
the Touch as a server by plugging an SD card or USB storage device into
it then you are are using TinySBS.

Ok thanks, so I have updated my touch with a 7.5.1 nightly and use it
with the TinySC on the touch and a local disk.
Should the touch now update using the nightly updates on a daily 'ish
basis?

The Touch is not able to play in USB-Mode HR-Flacs.
Music starts after soms seconds rebuffering and so on.
Attached is a WD 2,5 HD with 16474 Files in 1197 Albums.
3 Albums in HR-Flacs rest in normal Flacs and 256 VBR mpr
Playing normal Flacs and 256 VBR mpr no problems.

It's still a beta, but a lot of users report it to be better than 7.5.0
because it fixes many of the bugs in 7.5.1. I suggest deciding for
yourself based on (1) are you having problems with bugs in 7.5.0, and
(2) are they fixed in 7.5.1 beta.

Theoretically, if they're not recognized as audio files then there
should be no problem. In practice, though, I'm not sure it's a good

As long as they are not extensions that the scanner thinks of as audio
files there is not a problem. It CAN slow the scanning process down
though. The initial phase of the scan checks every single file on the
disk so it can take some extra time if you have a lot orf them.

There's often confusion over the X icons in the web interface. These
remove the song, album, artist, etc. from the -cur
FWIW, as a different way of showing/reinforcing what other have already
said here, my DAC doesn't recognize the HDCD fingerprinting in the 16th
bit after turning my SB3 down to 98. It is still detected at 99.

Can't Wipe and Rescan with 7.5.1 (worked fine with 7.5)
Can I get the same result by just deleting the .squeezebox directory
on the USB drive?

If you delete the .sb directory and restart the Touch it will rescan
the USB drive. I have always done this by ejecting the d
I did do the Clear and Rescan after putting the files on the Vortexbox,
but my file architecture is this:
files\music\flac\artist\album
Is this the problem?

I have followed some of the threads complaining about limitations with
using the Touch with larger music collections on USB drives. I strikes
me that some users may be expecting too much from a $300 device with
pristine audio output, a touch screen, a remote control, easy access to
internet radio

the full-fledged SBS? It would seem somewhere at logitech a feature list

There is no webUI on the Touch's TinySBS. If you use the Touch as a
player, its trivial to control it with the Web UI of your server, or
iPeng, etc.

I have to kind of agree. The built-in server TinySC is a 'feature' of
the Touch and as such is going to have limitations. The Touch is a
Network Media Player and it preforms its primary function very well
IMO.
More over it would be impossible for Logitech to make the Touch with
TinySC compatible
