I really wanted to connect my Xiva Musicm8 to the Touch to utilise the
wireless bridge function detailed in the manual but from reading online
it seems that this feature currently doesn't work on the Touch.
I have read a few posts suggesting that this is something planned for
the future - has

Matt,
AFAIK, it's not included, yet.
At least not in
Hi Everyone,
The SB Touch seems like the best solution as a controller for my
laziness. The ONLY reason I want to buy this is to connect it directly
to an external HDD to play FLAC. I am eyeing the Benchmark DAC1 and
either an Arcam, Rotel, Anthem or Naim AMP later on.
I do NOT want to use a
You probably need the brctl util, e.g. from busybox.
Unfortunately, busybox on the Touch does not support brctl. :-(
Either you cross-compile busybox for ARM on your own, or you take a
precompiled version, e.g. from the first post on
Well. bridging seems to be not enabled in the Touch kernel. :-(
This will be pretty complicated.

Hello,
I have been looking at the Sheevaplug mentioned to me by a forum member
in one of my older threads and although my SB Touch is working fine as a
standalone at the moment (ripped 120 CDs so far) I wondered if there
would be any sonic benefit to getting a NAS such as the sheevaplug in

See http://www.radionigel.com
I tried to listen to their Window Media stream, also known as their
High Quality stream, with the following URL:
mms://wm7.spacialnet.com/radionigel
It plays for a while, then the Touch crashes and reboots. When it comes
up again it had to restart due to a system

i updated the firmware on the musicm8 to 715 which claims is up to date
with squeezecenter 7.4.1 but my touch is already running 7.5.1 which i
am guessing is why i am having issues and that the squeezebox is
telling me to update but i can't see anyway to update the software

I WAS able to hear differences between PCM and flac decoding in blind
tests. (no it was a not a full blown scientific test). But that was
with the old firmware, the latest firmware has new flac decoding code,
I don't know how that sounds. Its probably not going to get tested in
the immediate
Hi Shahab,
there are a few things you can do to maximize the probability that
things will work right off the bat. First use a USB drive that has its
own power supply so that it doesn't have to get power from the Touch.
Try and get one that doesn't have auto sleep mode, or at least one that
has
Take care of yourself and get well soon John.
Excellent points about whether plugins are being used or not in a
choice between SheevaPlug or an Atom Server.

You do need SBS 7.5.0 or later to use the Touch, and as you note, the
latest version of the musicm8 software only has SBS 7.4.1. I don't know
any details about musicm8, but it looks like a pretty closed system.
Have you contacted the musicm8 people to see when they will update
their software?
