Situation can be a bit more confused depending on disc .
If it is a pure DVDA disc with mlp tracks then it is DVD-A Explorer .
But a lot of disc I have also have a 2ch 24bit PCM track in it's DVD-V
content, this can sometimes be 96k too , then you can rip this with
other software .

It all depends on the DAC you connect to them... some will sound
identical, some will be slightly different.

In that case,any ideas why it displayed the disc as 96/24 but the copy
was being restricted to 48/16?

and on the right screen parameters and values.
It shows sample rate as 96000 hz and bit resolution as 24 bit,but copy
control info says copying;restricted,1 copy;audio
quality;2ch/48khz/16bit.
I chose not to rip yet as I want
I have just read on DVD A E instructions that copy control - maximum
digital output resolution and allowed number of digital copies is set
by authors of disc.
To me,this looks like the limit on this particular disc.

You will need to rip to wav then convert to flac using one of the many
available free tools such as this one:

Right...I have ended up ripping one track in WAV as a test.
It shows up on the sbs as a WAV 24/96 and it shows up on the dac as 96k
so that side of things seem fine.
But that beep/screech/interference type of noise can be heard at the
start of the track,m,I'm lost!

I can't comment between RCA and Digital as I only use via RCA.
My Touch is hooked up via RCA to my Luxman pre amp and my Rotel power
amp combo and it sounds great.
