OK thanks for the suggestions. I've voted for the bug report. I've also
managed to put `switch to mysb.com' on my main menu (sometimes this
might be simpler as there's no need to rescan etc). I'll check this
actually resets the clock next time it drifts. But surely this is a
design fault,

As to the ALAC issue, I agree that it seems to be a major problem here,
and I too can't see why the engineers haven't resolved it. The fact
that I encoded most of my CDs with ALAC (because I use iTunes) is a sad
coincidence, but one that probably will affect a lot

I'm not sure if this is relevant but it also happens when I have
Internet radio on and then put on Flac or WAV and vice versa.
It seems to be related to either sample rate or format switching... but
the Touch (without external DAC) shouldn't make noises.

I wonder if someone couldn't write an Applet that checks in with MySB
once a day for time updates?
I honestly don't know if my SB players are even on the correct time
zone as I have no interest in their clock/alarm functions, but
obviously others do use these features.
I have more friggin clocks

In fact I try what was just posted in the last message but it does not
solve the issue.
What is even worse is that it has nothing to do with the continuous
reading in fact because sometimes, it happens at the end of the album

Sometimes, the last track of an album stop before the end at around
My brand new Squeezebox Touch does not switch on. I have plugged the
power and audio cables into the device, switched the power on at the
powerboard and nothing happens. The device does not power on, and the
display does not start up. I have tried plugging the power into several

Have you tried touching the screen? If you have, and it didn't react, it
sounds like a deader to me.
Also try the reset button. If that doesn't work either, I guess it's
time to contact the vendor (or Logitech support).

As noted earlier, the first hurdle is that Touch doesn't have cron,
which is the standard *nix scheduling utility.
If one has another computer running in the house, it may be possible to
use it to schedule a job that logs into the Touch and tells the Touch to
go out and get the time from a time

The tagging problems may lie with my files, although I have to wonder if
it isn't just that SBS is looking for a particular format and can't read

Thanks! You guys are awesome; I feel like a quitter. But one of these
days I'll probably rally and try again. I know roughly what I would do
in that case: I'd buy a computer, like maybe one of those headless
Atomics, put a 1 TB hard drive on it, convert my files to FLAC, clean
up their tags
Funny, I don't feel limited in any possible way by my Macs.

Hold it for at least 15-20 seconds to do a factory reset. You should
see a message about resetting to factory defaults appear on the screen
In a previous thread on the subject a developer stated that TinySBS was
supposed to be checking in with MySB.com every so often, but this
doesn't seem to be happening.
You don't actually have to connect with the outside world to update the
time. The Touch's RealTimeClock (RTC) is quite accurate,
Thanks to all for your suggestions.
With hope and expectation, I looked to see if the optical light was
flashing red, tried the reset option, touched the screen, glared at it
;), no luck, unfortunately :(
I would not be surprised if it's the power supply that's the problem;

Well, I got my squeezebox today and am very blown away with the quality.
I wanted it to use with USB flashdrives and SD cards. I already have a
great Bryston Dac so I just wanted something that would play in this
way. I was not expecting the sound quality I am hearing. Very tight

Happened to me after I accidentally used external HDD 12V power supply.
Both power plugs look identical. Touch went up to be dead since it uses
only 5V.
Logitech helped though and replaced my toy.
