All this sounds familiar. I have an Acer laptop with intel wireless too.
But the Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 2200BG on my Vaio does somewhat
the same thing. It seems as if nm-applet is connecting but it never gets
an IP and is unable to talk to the WLAN if I assign one manually.

Since I am a long time dual head user and I always had problems configuring
dual screen on linux I tested an install of Gutsy before upgrading... thanks

Dual head setup on Gutsy is totally screwed up and I'm completely unable to
make it work any more.
Thanks Troy C for testing the ppa1 version. I just uploaded a pp2
version in my ppa that may fix the issue. I'm can't say for sure because
I can not reproduce it :) Your kcontrol test script works for me. But I

OK, it definately is a problem with nm versions -15 and -16 because with a
clean upgrade to Gutsy final release wireless doesn't work but then I down
grade all nm related packages to -14 version and... voilá wireless works again.

XDMCP do not work for me too. Al works fine, but if I try to connect
from another Machine (Cygwin,Xming, Feisty or Gutsy) the screen goes
black and i see the gdm loginscreen again. In Feisty it works. In Gutsy

Got gnome-core-devel, it configured OK but would not 'make' because
GtkTooltips has been deprecated. I removed DGTK_DISABLE_DEPRECATED from

When browsing videos in Nautilus video thumbnails display the first
frame of the video. The first frame of most videos is often times a
black frame, and in turn makes it hard to visually tell what video it

I fixed this. The problem was that the network card itself has four WEP
keys built into the card. For some reason the card was defaulting to
Key 4, and after a iwconfig (using switch to change channel to 1), it
worked flawlessly.

I can confirm this bug for Gutsy i386. Replacing logtail2 with logtail
solves the issues.
