I had the same problem with an upgrade from 13.04 to 14.04 on a laptop

I've no kernel panic (for now), but a simple rsync via ssh or any disk
access and loadavg goes up fastly, system become unresponsive to other
disks access and lock commands (and break with ctrl-c) until the rsync
is breaked.

Important Informations : With nvidia proprietary display driver, I've lot of
application launcher in gnome menu bar and the bug is in Karmic and Lucid.
The bug could be in X.org, but I believe this is more gnome menu bar that
doesn't update correctly when screen resolution
This patch works perfectly. I didn't tryed with my pen I lost (this is
the second in few time), but at least wacom 4D mouse works perfectly.
I hope it will be backported on karmic kernel or at least lucid one for
next release.

I forgot to write that I tested with the linux-image-2.6.34-999-generic
(if someone else is interested). Saddly it doesn't support my graphic
card (GeForce 6100), I'm limited to 800x600 with this kernel). So I hope
it will backported to mainstream one, to avoid a recompilation for every

This is the case on 32bits and 64bits jaunty, this is due to an old version of
ffmpeg lib compiled with mplayer. This bug is patched on karmic version
mplayer, but still present on jaunty. ffmpeg/ffplay is a more recent version as
the bug report for ffmpeg was done before jaunty release :

I created the usb key using UnetBootIn because the integrated administration =
