Yes the printer does have the hand and it was working fine under 8.04.. I
also do not have ability to do the workaround as my GUI does not show
windows printer via Sambaunder networked printers in the
systemadminprinting GUI menu.. ( why not??)

with printers attached, both can print on the other machine.
I tried to follow someone who wrote about modifying smb.conf and messed it
up so badly that I downloaded a default version from ubuntu 8.4 as can't
find a default

the files in the /etc/samba directory into a zip file. With those files

I realize my acpid-solution only works when restarting acpid from within
the xsession. This is because of the dbus signal system. acpid must have

I confirm that the crackling sounds on reboot are gone for me.
My delay in resume is caused by the dvb-usb card. Removing the driver
module speeds up the resume making it almost immediate.
Does anyone know the solution? the driver complains about the firmware,
but it is regularly loaded at boot.

I see the same problem here on my machine. The problem is dhcpd depends
on a configured interface to listen on, but the interfaces are handled
by the network-manager which is started after dhcpd in the standard
setup. Even if I put dhcpd after network-manager in the startup scripts,

Good news to all, this bug is I think now solved, as I downloaded the
latest aptoncd package from
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/aptoncd/aptoncd_0.1-1_all.deb
and installed in my new jaunty 9.04 installation, it worked fine and i
made a 550mb addon cd with it which really worked great.
So
I forgot too mention, that I am running Jaunty Desktop install

I have tried a mainline kernel from the mainline kernel ppa:
2.6.29-02062904-generic #02062904 SMP
The crash is the same.
Before, on the standard Jaunty kernel, I tried removing linux-backports-
modules-jaunty, that changed nothing.
Also, when I removed all modules I could (modprobe -r from
