It shouldn't be white but bright brown or yellowish (the glow on the

My previous work around had one negative side affect... with console
output redirected to the serial port, unplugging my usb keyboard (which
generates several lines of console output) caused the machine to hang
hard. A new work around I found is to specify the kernel boot parameter
no-scroll.

I'm trying to backup files from a Gutsy machine to a Hardy machine. Using rsync
it should just copy the files and/or diffs across.

If started without any arguments, mumble-server uses a probably uncommon
directory to store its data to:
a) `murmurd` uses the current directory.
b) `murmer-wrapper` uses `$HOME/murmur`.
I think that using `$HOME/.config/Murmur` or
very curious... I decided to install Hardy to my HD and begin
inspecting various programs; I installed a bunch of the Gstreamer
plugins, including gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad and installed timidity and
freepats. Suddenly my MIDIs can play in Totem! Ununstalling timidity
makes no change;
When I change brightness with fn+home/end on hardy alpha 6 the brightness does
not actually change and the following errors appear in kern.log.

Can I put that on hold as an option for for a few days as I'm trying a
simpler solution: removing usplash from /etc/init.d
The *very* preliminary results (two shutdowns) are encouraging---no
white screen freeze---but I need to give it a bit longer to see whether
that's just luck!
