You are right, it's a bit of a botch fix, but it seems quite a lot of
people are getting a black screen and, from what I could gather, it's a
kernel problem with older machines. Which really isn't good if your
black screen PC is your only PC! :(

De fato, já havia usado o mesmo CD no meu vrtualbox sem p´roblemas. Não sou
expert em informatica (sou médico), mas gosto de aventuar em computadores.
Fato é que vários CD´s de RC não funcionaram e a versão final sim. Vai

quando altero o plano de fundo - efeitos visuais (normal ou extra) somem os
ícones de minimizar /
Como saber se os programas e atualizações que baixo são 64 bits?

Depois de muito tempo só usando o ubuntu vou instalar o windows em outro hd.
Sei que o windows vai apagar o grub e não vou poder mais acessar o ubuntu até
recuperar o grub.
Antes eu usava o super grub disk para recuperar o grub, mas não tenho tido
mais sucesso com essa ferramenta.

recebo a seguinte resposta quando uso dpkg (ou tento instalar/desinstalar
qualquer pacote)
ou usando sudo dpkg --configure -a :
- dpkg: área de banco de dados de estados está bloqueada por outro processo

O GParted sob o 9.04 também não reconhece as partições. O comando df
reconhece as partições tanto no 9.04 quanto no live-cd do 10.04.

Estou partindo do HD sata.
E não tenho nenhuma unidade flash espetada no PC. Somente uma multifuncional
HP que lê catão (desligada quando parto) um leitor de cartão e um hub usb

placa de vídeo (ATI) continua normal. Somente para iniciar é que deu um
problema com usb interrompendo a inicialização e pedindo intervenção. Fiz

hardware nas opções propriedades do mesmo.
Como faço isto no Ubuntu ?
É porque tenho a droga da atheros no netbook e a conexão wireless fica
um vagalume, a todo momento desconectando (wlan0).

ela nao ativa mais, acho que é com sudo rmmod nome do modulo, mas não tenho
certeza se vai funcionar.

Isto geralmente acontece quando há outra aplicação manipulando as
bases do dpkg. Por exemplo a Central de programas do Ubuntu e o
Ubuntu-update-manager (aquele ícone de atualizações do Ubuntu).
Veja se o ícone de atualizações não está aberto. Se estiver feche-o, é
o mais comum que acontece
Acabei de instalar o driver da ATI, diretamente dos repositórios
oficiais do Ubuntu, com o comando:
sudo aptitude install fglrx-amdcccle fglrx
Após tentar instalar novamente recebi uma mensagem dizendo que não era
possível remover a versão antiga e bla bla bla. Os comandos abaixo

algo do tipo mms:// Assim copio e colo no Rhythmbbox! Mas pode ser um
http tb! O negócio é ver direito no código fonte. Exs:
