Hi Claudio. I followed your link on the forum to this bug. According to Google
Image Search, the Acer Aspire 8530G, like most laptops, has a 'Touchpad' in the
middle of the palm rest. Is it possible that this 'capricious behavior' could
be explained by resting your palms on the palm rest and
I think I was the one who posted that comment! But I found that it still
doesn't work, so I removed my instructions (see the history for the page
if you like.) I still do not have a solution to this VERY annoying
problem.

root-cause of this needs to be discovered (mine was a case of upgrading
from Karmic to Lucid.) Here are the steps I used in detail:

Actually I think it is invalid. The prompt was incredibly confusing, and
wasn't actually _asking_ for a passphrase... it was about to _give_ you an
automatically-generated passphrase, so you can write it down if you like. See

Also experiencing this on fully-updated Karmic on a 5 yr old Intel D865GBF
board with an NVIDIA NV44A [GeForce 6200] AGP card using driver version '185'.
I tried removing the proprietary driver, but suspend still fails the same way.
I can't get any response using the keyboard, so I don't know
my Dell Latitude 630 with 23-bit Karmic experiences these exact symptoms. I
usually close the lid when not in use, and have it set to suspend. When I open
the lid, usually it wakes in less than 6 seconds. However, as Bastanteroma
describes, now it goes to sleep as soon as it wakes up. This
I meant 32-bit obviously. :P

No, it was a fresh install from the Karmic Alpha 5. It worked
initially, but stopped working after the Beta upgrade.

No, it is not similar to 429391. The option for adding a printer is

I might be experiencing the same thing on Karmic Koala Beta. I didn't look for
the left and right options at first, so I cannot tell if they were there and
disappeared. All I know is that it is gone now, leaving just the options
'Normal' and 'Upside Down' for Rotation.
