Hi,
On Ubuntu 11.10, the problem is almost the same.
The only difference is that now Unity 3D works with the vesa driver. Great
thing !
Nevertheless the resolution is still incorrect and the screen is still
"unknown".
I'm still forced to use Ubuntu 10.04 ! :)

FWIW, I've had this problem too. I found a fix for this
(http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1852081&page=4&styleid=109) is
to run "synclient TouchpadOff=0" from a terminal.
Here is the dmesg output of when this last happened:

For me it works ok. I have got a 5750. Are you sure you installed the
correct preperitary driver of the ATI web site? You probably have the
open source driver running. The version should be 2:8.892 as shown in
synaptics and must be enabled by xorg, means shown active in the
additional drivers dialo

Thanks Seth. Installing the deb in comment #492 finally enables touchpad
scrolling on my Asus 1830T. Edge scrolling work fine now.
Two finger scrolling is a bit more difficult. Perhaps I'm just not

Yes, when it says 'fix released', I would like some information of when

Nearly the same happen on my Lenovo S10 with Kubuntu when I did the upgrade to
oneiric,
After login, the login screen fade to a black screen, only the mouse pointer
are visibel

They worked from the live CD because you were using the open source
Nouveau driver. I couldn't set up the nvidia driver either for dual
