I do have the latest version of BIOS installed. My computer is a dual-
boot one so that it installs BIOS updates when it runs Windows 7. The
problem with the brightness level persists. I am using ubuntu-MATE (see
below for more details on the OS).

Anytime I boot up the system, it always sets the display brightness to
100%.

dated to 15th January. The system failed to boot on the HP ZBook 15. It
started booting as usually but after a short while it stopped. Even the
Ctrl Alt Del combination did not work and I had to use the power button

no, I have not tried it yet. I will think about this option.
However, now I want to say that this issue is not nvidia-specific. I
have the same problem also on a notebook with an Intel 945GM chipset. If
I log into Unity environment, the toggle mode of window resizing does
not work. T
This bug still survives - it impacts also Unity environment in Ubuntu
11.04. (The workstation runs 64-bit version of Natty Narwhal).

I have a notebook (Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo PRO V3205) which I often use
with an external USB keyboard attached when I am at home. However if
NumLock is active I can not normally use the notebook's own keyboard
because its keyboard mapping is mixed up.
I think I should also say clearly what I meant by the word "toggle". By
"toggle (vertical or horisontal window size)" I meant that it should
resize a window back and forth. I.e. first press of my keyboard shortcut
increases window size. Next press of the same shortcut decreases it to

When I go to suspend and then resume back the touchpad cursor becomes
frozen and the touchpad thus becomes unusable. I tested it when running
on battery power and with no mouse attached. (However it may behave in
