Unfortunately the ebuild hasn't been updated to 7.3.3 yet so I'm not

a while back it was said that it was planned in version 6.5 to allow
the pluggins to have their own convert.conf and types.conf
Has this been implemented? If so what are the filenames to use?

Seems pretty close to what you have except for the -f 2 instead of -f
1. If I remember correctly 2 sends the output to stdout (but don't

. My server is running on a gentoo server. I run softsqueeze on a
windows XP desktop.
I'm not sure which debug variable I should ty to turn on. BY default it
doesn't show anything in the log when I'm playing.

just a quick note that your squezze user shouldn't need to use bash at
all. I would replace
useradd squeeze -m -s /bin/bash
by
useradd squeeze -m -s /bin/false
It just depends on how paranoid you are I guess :-)

I used the same script to rebuild them and it fixed the problem.
I noticed thet gentoo installed DBI 1.48 and DBD-SQLite 1.09 and this
script only version 1.46 and 1.08. I wonder if there's some
incompatibilities there?

ok, I started to use custom-types.conf and it's working nicely.
Seems a bit inconsistent to have slimserver-convert.conf and
custom-types.conf but whatever works.
I'll make sure that my plugin merges its information in there. Thanks.

saying that PuTTY is connecting to an unknown server it'll mention a
new fingerprint. Accept it. Then it'll ask "login as" type "root" press
enter, it'll as for a password type the new root password of your own
that you entered last night. you should now
k (or
accept I don't rememeber). then login using what I assume is the root
user and the root password you entered when following the previous
instructions.

ah. I've had problem with flac that were mono, it played it twice as
fast in softsqueeze (not sure if it's a server of softsqueeze problem
though). You can see in vlc how the stream is encoded (View -> Stream
Info)

Nope I just reinstalled that server and the first thing I put was
slimserver. No flac or sox anywhere else. I *think* it's the way they
are run from the perl code for the conversion but I'm not a perl
programmer so that's just a guess...

As far as I know they're the one coming from slimserver's subversion
drectory in Bin/i386-linux and I don't see any setuid flags in the
permissions.

Well it appears that restarting the server made it all work. I guess the
loading on the fly isn't as powerfull as it sounds.

into deb? alienpkg or something like that? I know I used something like

I wouldn't even run samba, with ssh comes sftp and you can use
filezilla to securely connect to your server and transfert files
through sftp.

The first three members of the C module structure are char * to song

Another baby step: I figured out the undefined string MOD error. I had
to add:

in strings.txt so that was unfotunately unrelated to the fact that it's
not playing the module.
