Hi Daniel
Kannel is SMSC Client or if you see on SMPP spec, it's ESME (External Short
Message Entity).
SMSC must implement SS7 (GSM-MAP) protocol to talk with MSC, VLR and others
SMSC must also implement standard protocol to talk to ESME like SMPP.
And Kannel only implement SMPP to talk to SMSC
Thanks.. We do have quite a lot of development talent in house; however, my
need is immediate because I have an existing GSM system with no SMSC
currently deployed in our network. I was wondering if you (or anyone else

Hi Vahid,
Kannel complies with, and implements version 3.4 of SMPP.
I think broadcast operations are defined in the new SMPP v5.0.
Maybe you should post your question to the devel list to chek if it
will be implemented in a short time.

how realible does the fakesmsc for development?
fakesmsc has been _designed_ for development, so that you don't need
to fire hundred of thousands of msg over the air.
We consider fakesmsc as very reliable, since we use it for
performance, regression and stress tests.

the DLR support for fakesmsc has been on my TODO for some time.
Shouldn't be too hard to implement this?!

Don't worry Fake SMSCs can be used for
development.
But the final adjustments are always needed for the
final test in the field.
You can consider fake SMSCs as a reliable simulator
for development.

BTW, Paul, I did integrate some DLR support to smsc_fake indeed, see

Hi All,
I am having problems with the DLRs. One of my providers adds a "7_" before
the real message_id, so when the DLR finally arrives the number doesn´t
match, so Kannel ignores it.
ie: I submit a message with submit_sm and receives a submit_sm_response
with:
message_id
s is to
decimal. That way, I (hope) will solve the problem.
I´ll post the code if I'm successful.
Thanks for your help.

Stipe,
You bet is unusual! Is madness!! :)))
I've tried changing the select statement (I started with the "lazy way"
since it´s a lot simpler to change a single sql statement thant to write
real C code). But I soon found out that not only it added the "7_" stuff,
but also
precisely a C Language gurú :)

In urls you should escape hex numbers, as %e2%57, etc. Besides, text is
always used by Kannel
as variable meaning content.
