The SXI format is OpenOffice specific format and Powerpoint doesn't understand
that format. But you can always save your presentations in PPT (MS powerpoint)
formats using OpenOffice. When you use the save-as command to save your file,
in the save as dialog, you find this file type

I would be very suprised if the latest OOo version did not support NT4
(whcih after all is the base for win XP). I would suggest that after
you have checked that the downloaded file was not corrupted in some
way, you file and issue if that problem still exists.

command to save your file as something powerpoint understands, like
.ppt (the base powerpoint format).

I downloaded the openoffice power point equivalent, however I am unable to open
documents made using the openoffice version with the microsoft version. Is
there something I can do to open these? Currently the files are being saved as

I find that this happens when using OLE objects and inserting them
into OOo documents. If you double click the object and resize it so
that it is properly visible, it should be visible.
To correct the problem so it doesn't happen when you reopen it, try

OOo does not work with other citing software but it does have its own
bibliographic database which can be used in place of such software.I

You can either insert the drawing object directly into the writer document or
you can export the drawing object to .jpg or what ever format and insert the
same.
Insert - Object - OLE - Drawing - Choose the document.
