The metrication of the entire world is inevitable. So, giving up is
meaningless. CALTRANS or no CALTRANS, The victory of SI has already been

Dear Mr. Herritt,
While I grant that I am not a California resident, I am an American who,
since 1974, has supported U.S. transition to the SI metric standard of
measurement. Your agency's intention to roll back 11 years of progress by
canceling its metrication program could be a damaging blow to

more moderates, lots more people with an international view of things. The
neoconservatives and cultural conservatives had not yet taken over.

What leadership? The USMA will find out where the approval meeting will
take place and then make sure they are on the other side of the world.
Maybe to Australia. So, members, pay up your dues, the airfare is not

While I am not a Republican, I would find it hard to support your
arguments. The executive order directing all federal agencies to
convert to metric was issued by a Republican - George H.W. Bush. There
are many powerful corporate interests lobbying FOR adoption of the
metric system - especially

I prefer to call "English" units U.S. Imperial.
They are the U.S. version of Imperial units, which differ somewhat from

Don't forget as well that the Governor grew up in a metric country, Austria.
And you could ask him to "terminate" the backward thinking move to

Hello Kevi
The
California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has made the ill-advised
decision to revert back to the use of inch-pound units. See:

This memorandum lists a Web page for those
who wish to write Caltrans.
