Hi, Jose, Screen curtain is a part of Voiceover. It's used to darken the screen and give privacy. As far as I'm aware, it doesn't save battery life, because it doesn't disable the screen. I use the screen brightness setting, because it does improve battery life and works when Voiceover is off.

Hi Candy, As far as Ubidisk is concerned, try a pass-through gesture first on your playback slider first, i.e. do a double tap and hold when it says 1%, then carefully slide left or right without lifting your finger first. Quite often this will work if a more Voiceover oriented gesture does not.
