I strongly encourage you to set up face ID on your new iPhone. Touch ID is not
available on iPhone swithout home buttons and having used phones with both
types of biometric identification, face ID works much better

button comes up, with Cancel in focus

On an iPhone without a home button you push and hold the power button which is
also called side button for SIRI. In order to power off the phone you press and
hold the side button and volume down button at the same time until the power
off menu appears, this menu also includes the SOS/9 1 1
Eleanor, press the Power Button three times to get VoiceOver to come on.
I never missed the Home Button at all ever. I[m probably old enough to be your
grandmother, so my bet is that you'll do fine with the phone.

it is easily the best phone with a home button
unless you have to have the larger screen that the 11 has.
MY only regret after a year is that I did not buy the 256 GB phone, but the 128
GB.
I have a ton of music and seem to be adding more and more stuff.
Time to delete things.

No, it is the iPhone SE second generation also called the SE 2020. The iPhone
12 Mini is a newer model and does not have a home button.
