Couldn't stop the screensaver the normal way because it didn't listen to the
keyboard;

I found lots of e-mail on SelectObject to CompatibleDC failed in relating

New subscriber and just started working with the RealVNC.
I have just installed the latest stable RealVNC download version on a

Using VNC4 on windows linux, I can copy/paste from linux--windows, but
not from windows--linux into an RXVT terminal.
It *does* work to copy from windows--linux into an xterm, just not rxvt.
(using ctrl-c copy in windows and middle-button paste in linux)
copy/paste works fine with rxvt using
In the application I'm using, the host computer plays various warning
sound files when certain conditions exist.
I'm connected to the host using VNC, but I can not hear the alarms from my
remote computer.
Thanks.

hi all, i have included the file in this mail.
For
Currently VNC does not transfer sound between computers.
I am not sure if they are looking into this as a feature as
1. cross platform sound would prolly be tricky.
2. it would use a lot of bandwith that would be better used by faster
screeen refresh.

in version 4, do you mean this?
winvnc4.exe -stop -noconsole

PS. I noticed that (on XP) there is still a black command prompt that
opens up when I run this.shouldn't it do it with out that?

Hi, my VNC server is running on win XPSP2 desktop on my home LAN with VNC
server hard wired to 192.168.0.2. Rest of LAN is served DHCP by router
(starting at higher addresses) Access working fine from other local laptop
on the LAN using VNC client or java web access when I point to 192.168.0.2
I'm wondering if the DHCP server in the router is causing the problem. I
haven't used a netgear
before, but I've used an 8 port Linksys router that wouldn't forward ports
unless I disabled the DHCP
server. On the other hand, I've used a 4 port Linksys router and it worked
with the DHCP
Dear vnc gurus:
I installed vnc servers 4.0 and viewers 4.0 on our LAN. Most computers can
run vnc viewers with no problem. Only one computer running windows XP can
not connect to remote vnc server running in redhat linux 8.0. But it can
still connect to vnc server running in windows!
I got the
Correction: I can connect to any vnc servers running in Windows, but not in
Linux.
thanks,
Susan

If you are using windows xp with service pack 2 installed you need to
configure your firewall to allow for vnc.
This should help you out.
Windows XP sp2 installs and enables a firewall. you need to make
exceptions for it using this tool. When these instructions tell you
