Evening, In addition to Daniel's comment ensure the camera is working successfully with PhotoBooth. If it does but you are still experiencing issues then I would suggest resetting the PRAM. (Recommended as it is a common requirement in our deployment) Apple has a good knowledge base article on

Thank you Reg, Daniel, Susan. I checked all the buttons as directed. When I next made contact my friend on the PC said his Skype had not recognised changes he had made until he shut it down and rebooted it. We are now in contact and also with one of my sons in Canberra. What a great device.
