OK my set-up is now:
IViewFox - version 1.2.8
Firefox - version 3.6.16
OSX - 10.6.5 (I'm a bit too busy to upgrade OSX, at present)

Just to be certain, I will upgrade to iViewFox version 1.2.8 some time soon and
let you know how it goes. I wouldn't bother rebooting OS X for a browser plugin
problem, restarting the browser should be sufficient. But then there is no
resisting the appeal of voodoo. :-)

What you have done so fare sounds good. So here is the next avenue. :-) After
this comes the even more dramatic complete removal and reinstall of Firefox!
But for now, give this a try:
1) Uninstall the iViewFox Add-On -- this can be done from the Tools => Add-ons
window.

2a) delete firefox cache (seemed like a good idea/couldn't hurt)
2b) Restart Firefox

You could also try creating a new User, log in to that user and install it
there as well.
See if it does the same thing by not downloading.
That will then rule out if it's just a problem at the User level or at the
System Level.

However, since it said that it had not yet been reviewed by Mozilla, I
thought I would stick with the presumably proven version 1.2.8 which is
