Hi all
Having given this due consideration I intend to proceed down this route, can
you recommend a good domain registrar (in Australia?) Questions arise as to how
to know if a registrar is reliable or not?. Also and/or point me in the

Hi Peter,
I recently purchased a .org.au domain from Netregistry
http://www.netregistry.com.au/
It all went very well and everything seems to work as it should.
They had a special at the time - so it cost me all of $8.25 for two years
registration - though come renewal time it will be back to

Graeme,
A gmail account will work well, avoids the issues associated with
changing ISPs. The problem with names being taken already at yahoo,
hotmail and gmail is a big one - those 3 providers together service
more than 2 billion email addresses (12 mths ago, so more now) - so

I've always been deterred by the fact that they keep all your emails on record
even if you delete them from your account. They claim that no-one ever reads

Graeme,
Separating your email address from your ISP is important for several reasons.
If your email is owned by your ISP, you have created a major reason to
not move ISPs, even if there are better options available to you.
Broadband options are only going to increase, and it won't help to see

Hi Brett,
Are you using Apple Mail Address Book in Leopard or Snow Leopard?
If so:
You do need to put the individual addresses in Address Book. However you don't
have to go through all the fields.
I presume you have emails from these people in Mail. If so, you can select an

Thanks for that Ronni. Mail.app in Leopard is what we are using.
I was hoping to somehow access the database that Mail.app uses. I
thought there might be an app that does this (since virus programs
seem to do it all the time :-)
But thanks anyway,

Hi Brett,
That's not possible, because Mail doesn't store any email addresses.
I know it looks like it does, but it never has; it gets them from a database
created and managed by Address Book.
Cheers,
Ronni
